7Ma have been very busy and have just wrapped up their Beach Unit. We have made some surf safety videos with the green screen that just need to be edited and published. We are about to start an integrated ANZAC unit where students will be learning about World War I and II and specifically. They will investigate how people may have felt at war and some of the negative impacts of war as well as any positives. Students will then use this knowledge as well as skills learnt in our Writing sessions to create their own poetry from the perspective of someone at war.
Spelling
All students are bringing home some spelling words to learn for the week. With our spelling routine, we do a pre-test on a Monday and the children learn the words for homework during the week. We do a post test on Friday. During the week the class write sentences and do activities on their words. (If the sentences are not complete in class they become homework).
When learning a word children should:
I ask that parents or another older family member test the children on their spelling each night. The children know that if they do this they will receive a credit for each day their spelling has been learnt.
Student Diaries
I also ask that you check your child's Student Diary and sign it to say that you have seen it. This is to show me that you have seen any notes, looked to see what homework they might have or seen any events coming up etc. They will get credits if:

When learning a word children should:

- Identify where they have made an error (the hardspot)
- Practise writing it correctly
- Use it in sentences
- Verbally spell the word aloud.

- Their Student Diary is set up correctly (all subjects written in)
- All homework is written in
