Over the last five weeks, as a class we have been doing many exciting activities and lessons around the topic of Disabilities. It involved looking at a timeline from the Roman Empire until now, role plays around IQ Tests, getting my sister in, looking at the amazing super power baby project book, and more recently partnering with the Braithwaite Centre playing games and activities together. It has been eye opening and lots of fun. Look down below for some more pictures and information about what we have done.
Super Power Baby Project
We looked at how we change our language around disabilities from talking about what disabled people can't do to what they can. This book specifically looks at the super powers that each of these amazing children with disabilities have.
Games Day
We spent an afternoon in groups planning inclusive games that could be played with students from the Braithwaite Centre. From the planning stage, we went and played the games. As you can see we all had a lot of fun.
Disability Day
Disability day was a massive success. Students from 7Hm day raised of $500 in preparation for this day. They spent one hour blind, one hour deaf and the last hour disabled. We finished the day by doing a confidence course, and we asked the Braithwaite Centre to join us. With the help of the Peer Mentors we were able to set up an amazing course. The students again had so much fun. We love working with the centre.
